Why do I need a lawyer if I’m innocent?

When your cell phone rings and the caller ID reveals is a police officer, sheriff deputy, FBI agent, or other law enforcement officer, your natural instinct maybe to immediately answer and cooperate. After all, why would you need lawyer if you are innocent? Wouldn’t it look bad for you to show up to cooperate with law enforcement with an attorney?
